POST SAFETY FORUM
Day two of the conference opened with the POST Safety Forum and breakfast.
Guest speakers included Lou Cerruti of Claybar Contracting, Jeff See of Great Canadian Wiring Company (How POST has improved the safety culture within his company), Rene Kooistra of Esso (Behaviour Based Safety & Making Safety Personal) Rob Rivers of Claybar Contracting (Presentation on Safety & benefits of POST), and Stephen Laffrade of Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (Duties of Workers, Supervisors and Employers).
Thank you to the speakers for their great presentations as well as to Esso, Shell and Suncor for their continued support of POST and for attending the forum. We plan to publish many of these POST success stories in future issues of the Canadian Petroleum Contractor Magazine.
OPCA DINNER & ENTERTAINMENT
Featuring hockey legend Dennis Hull
The OPCA dinner featured NHL hockey legend Dennis Hull who shared his wealth of anecdotes and stories from his many experiences. Dennis also stayed to sign many autographs.
Congratulations to Johanne Fischer of the Sarjeant Company, winner of the Chicago Blackhawks jersey autographed by Dennis.

OPCA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The OPCA Annual General Meeting was held the morning of March 24 at the Toronto Congress Centre. OPCA Board members and staff provided updates on OPCA initiatives, membership, finances and training and certification.
David Mason of Canada Brokerlink provided an overview of the OPCA Insurance Program.
The keynote speaker for the meeting was Ted Mallett of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. Mr. Mallett’s presentation included CFIB’s perspective on how the small business sector has been faring including business optimism, and spending intentions. He also discussed some of the longer term issues in the economy and what is needed from government to improve things and ease concerns.
